I’ve tried Belgian beers before with limited success. A rasberry lambic on a hot summer day is nice. That Delerium Tremens on a cold winter night, not so much. When I purchased this beer I really wanted to like it. Belgian beers are the pinacle of beer snobbery right? I’m supposed to like all the stuff from this renowned region of beer brewing. So why was it such a struggle?
I poured the Maredsous Triple Tripel and was immediately amazed with the head on it.. It had resiliance. The color was rich and the aroma had multiple notes, malt, honey maybe oak…this was going to take some thought. I tried a sip and was floored with how good it was. Sometimes I don’t trust my own senses after a long day at work (even a Coors could taste good after along day at the plant), so I handed my finally poured beer to my wife.
Overall – It’s a rich tasty beer with multiple flavor notes that can really make a fella think. …Am I drinking a chick beer or am I becoming a chick?
