Here is another beer review. Tonight its a Bourbon Barrel Stout by New Holland Brewing. Let me know what you think.
Another night another show on TV. Its been a good day of working from home, a lot of work has been done, now its time to sit back, relax, and grab a beer. My wife is a Real World fan, and this season is the season of Skeletons. Madison’s Ex came in this episode, and Tony was not ok. The atmosphere was intense. Could you imagine being stuck in a house and your girlfriend when her ex comes to stay in the same room as her. Sh…s insane right? Then he goes and steals a bottle from behind the bar and all hell breaks loose.
Tonight, in order to keep the good times going I decided to pop the top on a Dragon’s Milk Bourbon Barrel Stout by New Holland Brewing Company. The Bourbon Barrel Stouts are becoming very popular these days. At first I was against this, the taste just wasn’t pleasing to my taste buds. Over time, like most new tastes, it has grown on me. As I build up my cellar collection, I see that some of the best bottles to age are higher ABV beers. Bourbon Barrel Stouts fit that description to a T.
Dragon's Milk Factoids: ABV: 11% Calories: 300 Look: 4.5 Smell: 4.25 Feel: 4 Overall: 4.25
Dragon’s Milk pours black with very little caramel like head. There is a malty aroma with notes of bourbon and sweetness. It drinks with a medium body with some a noticeable carbonation level. The taste was smooth with caramel and malts. There is a mellow bourbon taste with the beer. Overall, it was an excellent beer. The fact that it has taken me so long to try this beer makes me sad. I hope to grab more bottles of this in the near future at my local craft beer store.
How do you feel about bourbon barrel stouts and how they are sweeping the craft beer nation? How do you feel about reality TV shows like the Real World? I think the only way I can handle reality TV is by drinking more amazing beers like Dragon’s Milk.
