Why Do I Love Beer?
From Guest Contributor Elliot G. @
Why do I love beer? The impossible question. If I had to answer, I’d say it is becausethere are an infinite number of possible answers. About a week ago I had Blakkr from Surly, 3 Floyds, and Real Ale. I always liked that beer but hadn’t had it for at least a few months, and that sip of the big, roasty, hoppy, black IPA was, in that moment, the perfect sip. But that “perfect sip” is so common for me because there are so many excellent beers that shine in their own way. Sometimes it’s a Manhattan barrel aged Belgian strong from Town Hall, sometimes it’s a sour from Fair State Brewing Cooperative’s excellent “lactobac” series, and sometimes it’s a giant hop punch in the face from Indeed’s Let It Ride. And, frankly, after mowing the lawn or shoveling the driveway, sometimes it’s a cold PBR or Grain Belt. So I think I love beer because perfection (or awesomeness) comes in so many forms and at any given time, I can be having the perfect beer.
